Our practical exam topic is all about back to school tips, the term back to school can be most defined as the period leaners are expected to go back to school from their holidays, it can also be called as the period which the leaners and their parents or guardians purchase al school stationaries and uniforms in order for the children to go start school either returning from a holiday or just starting a new academic year. In our practical exam we are going to talk about important tips that parents should look at when preparing their children to go back to school.

1.Inform them about the new school year.

Whether they are starting primary school for the first time, entering their final year or anything in between. The start of a new school year can be an anxious and confusing time for young minds. Discussing how your child feels about the new year is one of the best things you can do to calm any pre-school nerves. Simply, open ended questions are an excellent way to learn about any concerns or fear they may have.

2.Getting kids back into a routine.

This is a process of getting kids ready for school. Explain to your kids how it will be every morning. Set timer for your kids on what time they should go to bed and what time they should wake up for school. Your child will have to get used to being in classes for a duration of time. The timer   provides children with a large visual timer to help them pace themselves. Practice breaking up a morning routine, afternoon activities, or an errand run by an allotted time frame. You can use a schedule and earned break tracker mentioned above to preview activities with your child.   Create a chart for your child and paste it in their room with the list on what to do when they wake up. Make a habit of creating a schedule for your child. What must they accomplish before receiving an earned break? Do you have visual cue cards to help your child with their steps? The more familiar your child becomes with their routines and how to complete them, the better prepared they will be when crunch...

3.Getting to know your child's teacher.

 Early, developing relationship with your child's teacher can make a significant difference through out the school year. Use an open house or back-to-school night at your school to meet your child's new teacher(or teachers) and break the ice ahead of time. This can help your child feel more at ease on the first day of school and allows you to establish a line of communication early on.

4.Be aware of the financial commitment.

Most of the schools always issue out a list that contains all the required stationary so it is advisable to get the list as early as possible and start budgeting for all that is on the list.    Nothing beats finishing your back to school shopping only to discover your child requires N$40 for school uniform,N$30 for cab fee,N$300 for stationaries Make a list of all the  expenses you will face so you can be prepared to deal with them. Draw up a budget for school unforms. Electronics are becoming increasingly useful tools in the classroom. before making any big purchases like a laptop or tablet, decide which devices will be most useful and appropriate for your children inside and outside the classroom If possible it is also wise to sell out the old stuff that your children wont need in the following academic year selling out this items will help you to gain an extra penny that will add to the amount that you already have this will help you ,to have a little more money t...

5.Choosing the appropriate uniform sizes.

 Buy adjustable uniform wherever possible. Adjustable  waists are a must are a must and some shops like M&S sell trousers with shirts that can be let down if your child grows. Buy slightly big so it lasts but not so big it swaps them. Elasticated waist trousers  and skirts are the best for younger children, especially on PE days. check the school uniform requirement of your child's school sew name tags into your Childs clothes so they can be found in the lost and found property if they go missing. invest in good quality school clothes  as this way they will last longer and can even be donated, sold or passed down to siblings or friend.

6. Talk about first week of pins and needles.

 Reassure your child that being nervous is natural even for teachers. You can help your child cope with his feelings when you: Let them express their fears. Perhaps you can offer stories of your own first-day jitters when you were a child. Teach them to breathe deeply and slowly in order to calm their nerves. Discuss the scenarios that worry them. For example, if they are worried about who to sit with or talk to on the first day, assist the to plan a strategy and rehearse it so they will know what  to do. make sure that your child is familiar with the school environment and explain to him or her that its ok to be afraid of the school environment if its new, explain the importance of making two to three new friends as making new friends will help the child to cope with the new environment .

7. Celebrate the start of a new school year.

 If you celebrate the first day of school, your kids will see back to school as a transition they can really enjoy. Try a back to school party the day before school starts ,complete with a cake,ballons and education gifts. Do not forget to take a picture onthe front step in their first day of school uniform. It is going to be  a great year!

8.find a 'go-to-school friend.'

 If your child walks or takes a bus to school and there are other children int he neighborhood who go to the same school. Talk to their parents and ask them if the kids can walk or take the bus together. This way the kids will have more fun on their way to school and may share their worries and help each other to feel more comfortable going back to school. Having a friend to walk with to school helps the leaners to feel safe when walking, it also makes the way to school way shorter and fun when the children are two or in a group .

9. Create a list of enjoyable after school activities for kids.

children can do fun activities during their leisure time as this help them to be more active, doing activities with the other chilren promotes thier ability to interact with eachother. games like puzzels boosts the learners problem solving abilities

10. Set your kids sleep schedules to school time.

Without enough sleep, kids can feel moody, tired or cranky and this might result to them finding it hard to pay attention in class. school work that's normally easy may feel impossible to do children might sleep off during class, so it is advisable for the parents to make sure that the children sleep early and have sufficient sleep, and wont have any difficulties in waking up the parent should make sure that the child sleep early.
